Pat Mullen retires from Errigal College, Letterkenny

After nearly four decades of caring for the Errigal College buildings and the staff and students which passed through them, Pat Mullen retired from his role as caretaker in the school after 37 years.

Pat started his career with Donegal ETB back in 1979 when Errigal College, known then as Letterkenny Vocational School, was located in lower Ard O’Donnell, which is now Administrative Offices. The School moved to the newly built premises at Windyhall on the Kilmacrennan Road in 1987 where Pat has remained since. The school held a retirement function for Pat on Friday 28th August to mark his last day with Donegal ETB and was joined by both present and former members of staff, pupils of the school and his family, his wife, Kathleen, and their five children and grand-children.

A heartfelt and touching tribute was paid to Pat with a number of people speaking fondly of Pat’s time with the school, including former Principal, Paddy O’Connor, also Anne McHugh and current Acting Principal, Charlie Cannon. Pat was presented with the much coveted FAI jacket, courtesy of Michael McMenamin and Joe Boyle. Wishing Pat many happy years of retirement with all his family.
