Callaghan ‘The Youthreach Ironman’

Aidan-Callaghan-e1444476261890Donegal ETB wish to congratulate Aidan Callaghan, Youthreach Co-ordinator, Lifford on winning the 2016 National Triathlon middle distance championship in a time of 4.07 at the weekend. The Letterkenny 24/7 tri-athlete clinched the title with a first place finish in the ‘Lost Sheep Triathlon’ in Kenmare Co Kerry. The triathlon was made up of a 1,900 metre swim, an 80 km cycle and a 21 km run.

Aidan also competed in the UK full Ironman a few weeks ago and with his performance in Bolton, he qualifed for the Ironman world championships which take place later this year in Kona, Hawaii.

Martin Gormley, Director of Schools Donegal ETB referred to Aidan ‘as a tremendous role model for all our young people in our schools and centres. Aidan has shown that by combining talent, hard work and commitment he can compete on the national and global stage. We all wish him well in his preparations for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii’.
