QQI Level 4 Horticulture course

Donegal ETB’s Further Education Service recently presented certificates to fourteen participants who had undertaken a QQI Level 4 Horticulture course. The course, which took place in Fintown under the BTEI (Back to Education Initiative) Programme, was delivered in conjunction with the local Community Employment Scheme and the Department of Social Protection. Its aim was to bring a relevant programme of education to a community setting that would offer accreditation for those taking part. Relevant learning opportunities that were included were provision of a suitable polytunnel, a visit to the gardens of Glenveagh National Park and a visit to The Organic Centre, Co Leitrim. Out of the fourteen students who commenced the course, twelve were successful in attaining the major award at Level 4 in Horticulture and two received a minor award. This is a great achievement for the learners and Donegal ETB was proud to present their certificates in The Highlands Hotel, in Glenties recently.

BTEI is co-funded by the Irish Government and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020.
