Colaiste na Carraige Take Second Place in National AIB Build a Bank Competition

Huge congratulations to Coláiste na Carraige’s Build a Bank Team who came second in the AIB Build a Bank national final in Dublin yesterday.

The AIB Build a Bank Challenge sees a team of six students selected to set up and manage a bank in their school with the full support of a dedicated AIB Student Officer. The students get involved in everything from developing a Business Plan, branding their Bank and engaging with the community to sourcing new customers through creative marketing campaigns.

The group of Transition Year students, Adam Barnes, Sophie Barnes, Aiden Doherty, Rosie Doherty, Stephen Gallagher and Carla Gilmartin, qualified from the regional finals with 47 other teams from right around the country. Their bank is called ‘Tailors’ and their logo is ‘Banking to suit you’.

At the national final they first qualified as one of the top six in the competition. They then had to present again to the whole audience, from which they came in second place.

Their teacher Ms. Emma Kane worked and encouraged the students throughout the project and they got great support from the local AIB branch – the school is particularly indebted to Agnes Mc Cready and Sharon Meehan.
