Donegal ETB Welcomes US Political Delegation

Donegal ETB welcomed a US political delegation to its Letterkenny Training Centre on 8 March.

The delegation was led by Massachussetts State Senator Nick Collins and included Boston City Councillors Timothy McCarthy and Frank Baker who arrived in Donegal on Thursday and visited a number of tourism related businesses in South Donegal including Hanna Hats and Magee of Donegal. This was followed by a formal reception on Friday morning with Donegal County Council and a visit to Donegal ETB and Pramerica in Letterkenny.

Senator Nick Collins was elected to the Massachusetts Senate last May and previously sat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since 2010 serving on a variety of committees including the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies (Vice Chair), the Joint Committee on Housing, the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy and the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs.

The delegation also paid a visit to Ballaghderg Special Needs Pre-School on Friday afternoon. This school benefited from a generous donation of $10,000 raised by Southill Childrens Fund in Boston in 2016.

They finished their visit to Donegal with a trip to Glenveagh National Park and Donegal Castle on Saturday before travelling back to Dublin on Sunday.

They are pictured with Donegal ETB Chairperson Cllr Martin Harley, Garry Martin (Donegal County Council), Letterkenny Training Centre Manager Vinny Mc Groary, Acting Assistant Manager Mairead Carlin and Chief Executive Anne McHugh.
