A brand-new STEM Lab and Makerspace has been opened by Mulroy College in Milford. The provision of the state-of-the-art facility, designed to inspire creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), was made possible through the generous support of Mowi Ireland.

The school also launched a brand new website, https://mulroycollege.ie/, at the opening event on Friday, 19 September.

The development of the STEM Lab and Makerspace project was led by Deputy Principal David McHale, and the school ICT team and ICT Coordinator Maria Ryan.

Housed in an existing classroom in the Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB) school, it is fully equipped with cutting-edge technology and resources.

These include 3D printers and laser cutters, Sphero robotics kits and programmable electronics, Lego Spike Prime kits, electronics workstations for circuitry and coding, a vacuum former and vinyl cutter, and dedicated spaces for collaborative, project-based learning.

These tools will empower students to engage in the full design cycle, ideation, prototyping, testing, and iteration, bridging theoretical STEM education with practical application.
