[lang_en-uk]On Friday night last, 29th June, The Relay for Life Donegal Committee announced the final total of the funds raised for the Irish Cancer Society prior and during the weekend of the main Relay for Life event which took place in glorious sunshine on the 25th and 26th May last. To date the people of Donegal have raised the huge amount of €346,000 and this will of course increase with the sales of the record single from Daniel O’Donnell “I’ll see this journey through”.
Co.Donegal VEC had two teams involved in the Relay for Life, namely Gartan Outdoor Education Centre and the other team which covered all areas of the Donegal VEC (Adult Training Centres, Schools, Youthreach, Admin Offices etc). Both teams surpassed their own original targets and raised an impressive total of €12,927.96 between them. A presentation of the cheques to Robert O’Connor and Garvan McCloskey of the Relay for Life Donegal organising committee took place recently at the VEC Administration Offices at Ard O’Donnell, Letterkenny. The entire staff of Co.Donegal VEC and all who supported this initiative can all be proud of their association with this fantastic achievement and we would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone for their kindness and generosity.
The Relay for Life Donegal Organising Committee also thanked everyone for their involvement and announced that the Relay will take place again next year on the last weekend in May 2013.
