Minister Presents JCPA Certificates to Crana College Students

Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh, TD, presented Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA) certificates to Crana College students on Monday last.

Presenting the awards, Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh said, “The new Junior Cycle reporting process allows students to be recognised not only for the grades they achieve in their exams, but also for the assessments they do in class and for the Other Areas of Learning they experience over the course of the Junior Cycle programme.”

Mr Kevin Cooley, Principal of Crana College, thanked Minister McHugh for accepting the invitation to come to the school to celebrate the presentation of JCPA’s to his students and said, “by being here today, Minister McHugh is endorsing the significance of what the JCPA really means to students.”

Donegal ETB’s Director of Schools, Dr Martin Gormley, speaking after the presentation said, “Donegal ETB was delighted that Minister McHugh could present these certificates to the students.  Crana College is one of fifteen schools that we manage across the county. The JCPA gives a broader and more accurate picture of the learning that really happens in schools and it is a hugely positive step in the right direction.”
