Donegal ETB FET Services Presentation of Awards in the Finn Valley

Over two hundred people gathered in the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey on Thursday 17 January to receive a wide range of awards from Donegal ETB’s Further Education and Training (FET) Service. The awards were achieved through various part-time programmes over the last year, completed in the Finn Valley area.

Certificates were presented in a wide range of programmes and subject areas including Maths, Essential IT, Word Processing, Internet Skills, Computer Literacy, Core Skills, English, ESOL, Communications, Personal and Interpersonal Skills, Personal Effectiveness, Spreadsheets, Hotel and Hospitality, ICT, Health Service Skills, Early Childhood Care and Education, Art and Design, Graphic Design, Special Needs Assisting, Understanding Special Needs and Intellectual Disability Studies.

These courses were completed through the FET Services’ adult literacy and Back to Education Initiative (BTEI), both of which are co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020.

Anne McHugh, Chief Executive of Donegal ETB congratulated the learners on their achievement and outlined the range of courses and services that Donegal ETB provides. She said, “The certification they have received here tonight will now open up many more progression options to them within the world of work or further and higher education and training.”

A number of learners spoke on the night about their experience of completing a course with Donegal ETB’s FET Service.

Donegal ETB Chairperson, Cllr Martin Hanley, who presented the awards said, “Donegal ETB’s innovative FET Service has developed courses and programmes of learning that respond to the economic, cultural and social profile of the county. I want to acknowledge the work of CE Anne McHugh and FET Director Cróna Gallagher in ensuring that Donegal ETB FET’s service has both a strong local and national profile.”
