Congratulations to Emma Govan, student in the Abbey Vocational School, who was awarded the prestigious J.P. McManus Scholarship Award at a ceremony in the University of Limerick Concert Hall on Saturday, 21st November. Emma was one of 125 recipients who were selected mainly based on their results in the Leaving Cert examination. The guest of honour at the ceremony was recently retired jockey A.P. McCoy who spoke to those present about the challenges he set for himself and how he always strived to improve.
The ‘The All Ireland Scholarship’ scheme was established in 2008 by J.P. McManus, renowned Irish businessman and racehorse owner, to support many gifted young students across the whole island of Ireland, giving them extra financial support to enable them to participate in all aspects of college life during their third level education. Here you will find all the information you need about eligibility for students, the awards ceremony and the past winners.
