Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB) has confirmed that it is currently engaged in a process, in collaboration with the Department of Education and Youth and the Little Angels Association, to transfer the patronage of the Little Angels School, a special school located in Knocknamona, Letterkenny, to Donegal ETB.
This development follows constructive discussions between the Department, the Little Angels Association, and Donegal ETB, reflecting a shared commitment to ensuring the continued provision of high-quality, inclusive education for students with special educational needs.
The Little Angels School has a long and proud history of providing specialised education and care for children and young people with moderate, severe, and profound learning needs. The school is widely recognised for its nurturing environment, its dedicated and skilled staff, and its deep commitment to supporting each student.
The proposed transfer will ensure that the Little Angels School benefits from the broad range of supports, expertise, and resources available through the ETB sector. Donegal ETB will work closely with the Department, the current patron, and the Single Manager of the school to ensure that the transition is managed smoothly and that continuity for students, staff, and families is fully maintained.
Commenting on the process, Ms Anne McHugh, Chief Executive of Donegal ETB, stated: “Donegal ETB is honoured to be working with the Department of Education and Youth and the Little Angels Association on the transfer of patronage of the Little Angels School. I wish to acknowledge the voluntary patronage of the Little Angels Association in founding and developing the school to the highest standard over the years.”
The process of transfer of patronage will continue over the coming months in accordance with Departmental procedures, and all relevant stakeholders will be kept informed as arrangements progress.
